Bishop Richard leads confirmation service at St. Stephen’s

IMG_0043On Sunday, 25th January we were delighted to welcome Bishop Richard, the Bishop of London, for a service of confirmation at St. Stephen’s.

The service was an exciting and joyful celebration of faith as 11 very diverse people stated their belief in Jesus Christ and their desire to lives as His disciples.

With the power of the Holy Spirit, our Bishop laid hands on each person, prayed for them and anointed them with oil.

It was a wonderful occasion for everyone involved – but especially for those confirmed – marked by passionate faith, heartfelt fellowship and true happiness.

Zeinab, who is originally from Freetown in Sierra Leone said,

“I want to say thank you for Sunday, the service was great. I would also like to say that, it was one of the happiest moment of my life, being confirmed by one of the church’s greatest men in London; Bishop Richard. I experienced inner peace that day, I felt God’s presence in me and I thank Him for sparing my life.”

Those confirmed by Bishop Richard were Albert, Ben, Bidemi, Cole, Lily-May, Olivia, Paula, Simon, Troy, Zeinab and Yinka.

Christmas Celebrations

IMG_5654Christmas at St. Stephen’s was full of joy and excitement as we celebrated the birth of our Lord Jesus.

The church was jam packed full for our Carols by Candlelight, a blend of traditional carols, scripture readings, poems, and some musical items by our own 38 voice, ‘scratch’ choir including an amazing rendition of ‘Little Drummer Boy’. Gareth Malone should be impressed!

Our annual nativity play, entitled ‘Mission Impossible,’ was performed to an enthralled audience by 40 children and adults retelling the amazing story of the birth of Jesus with some unusual twists and interpretations including magi on scooters and ‘boot-camp’ angels.

Many more gathered on Christmas Day to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Jesus and address the question of ‘what is Christmas all about?’

It was great to welcome our friends from Westbourne Park Baptist Church to share in many of our Christmas celebrations.

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make all this possible.IMG_5664
