On Saturday 20th June, despite a very gloomy forecast of heavy rain, about 1000 people gathered to enjoy another fantastic and exciting – and relatively dry and bright – St. Stephen’s Church Fete. (In so many ways, the Lord answered our prayers!)
Many gathered outside to enjoy the tea-cup ride, surf simulator, inflatable rock-climbing wall, and a 25 metre long inflatable pirate ship. Or alternatively gathered under the gazebos for face-painting, tin-can alley, hook-a-duck etc all accompanied by live music from local, talented musicians led by our very own Nicolette van Gendt.
Inside many enthusiastically rummaged through the bric-a-brac, skimmed second-hand books, bought raffle tickets, played the bottle tombola, enjoyed a cream tea or were seduced into buying some of the extraordinary array of delicious cakes on sale. And we could go on and on about the BBQ, jewellery, knitted toys, Miss Ballooniverse etc, etc
It was a great day, gathering people from all across our local community, to celebrate our special neighbourhood.
