Harvest Donations

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.

He gives food to every living thing.
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His faithful love endures forever.

Psalm 136

We will be celebrating our Harvest Festival on Sunday 18 October. This will be an occasion to give thanks to God our Provider for all the wonders and blessings of His creation.

It is also an opportunity to bring food gifts to help those less fortunate than ourselves – people in need of compassionate help and support. We shall be donating our food gifts to the Upper Room Project in Shepherds Bush which provides a hot meal for over 100 guests each evening of the year. As you can imagine this requires an enormous amount of food resources.

We appreciate that the cost of grocery shopping has risen markedly in recent years but please be as generous as you possibly can to bless this organisation with their ministry to the homeless and the lonely.

What would be most useful:

tins of tuna; tinned meat; tinned fruit; white sugar; stock cubes; ground pepper; dried herbs; olive oil; pasta sauces; tomato puree; tinned tomatoes; sPicture5weet biscuits; instant coffee; tea bags; long life milk; toilet roll; washing up liquid; disposable razors; shaving foam/gel;deodorants; men’s socks!

What would not be useful:

baked beans; tinned spaghetti; macaroni cheese; chutneys, pickles etc; any wholemeal pasta; drinking chocolate; tomato soup; breakfast cereals; anything beyond the sell by date!Picture8

We very much look forward to meeting Olivia very soon!

Thursday Youth group is back!

IMG_0352There back! Starting with a feast of pizza at the Vicarage and plenty of time to catch up on the summer action, our Youth Group resumed for the new academic year.

Under the amazing leadership of Tiffany Jackson, the group meet each Thursday at St. Stephen’s Church from 6pm for food, games, bible study, prayer, discussion and general madness. Don’t let the photo put you off – all are welcome – and they are even quite nice…..

Profit from the Prophets

This coming Friday, 11th September our Community Bible Study group resumes. The group will be studying the books of the prophets Amos and Isaiah. Each week the group members have study questions to answer at home on a chapter of the bible; then they discuss the questions together when they gather on a Friday; followed by a brief talk on the main themes of the passage often given by a visiting speaker.

All this is accompanied by copious quantities of tea or coffee, some delicious cake and biscuits, along with pastoral prayer and friendly fellowship. What better way to spend a Friday morning?

If you would like to join them the group meets each Friday at the church from 10.15am to noon. All are welcome.
