Good Friday

Good Friday

You are invited to join us for three very different opportunities to worship on Good Friday:

10.15am          Family Worship
An all-age service to reflect on why this Friday is remembered as ‘good’

11.00am          March of Witness
Departing from St. Stephen’s, there will be the opportunity to join with members of other local churches across Westbourne Park and Notting Hill as we converge on Portobello Road for our march and then Tavistock Square for an open air service.

1.00-3.00pm    Meditations on the Cross
A service held at our partner church, St. Matthew’s, Bayswater, with reflections on the cross, silence and prayer, interspersed by music performed by the choir and congregational hymns. You are welcome to come for the full service but there will be a short break each 30 minutes.

Maundy Thursday

maundy-thursday-101There will be an informal service of Holy Communion at 7.30pm on Maundy Thursday, 13th April. This will be a joint service with our friends from St. Matthew’s, Bayswater.

During the service there will be an opportunity to share in foot washing. At the end of the service, the church will be stripped of all decoration in preparation for Good Friday.

‘This is My body
broken like bread for you;
this is My blood
like water shed for you.’
Drink it – and wonder
marvel – and eat.
God torn asunder,
man made complete!
Stagger the mind
at truth here revealed:
kneel – and be broken,
rise – and be healed.
Got out and die,
die, live and live!
Take all he offers,
take all and give.
Here’s a remembering
to scorch and to bless:
sinners partaking
God’s righteousness.

Lord,
this is my body…
