Welcome From The New Vicar

Richard Dryer PhotoWelcome to St Stephen’s Westbourne Park. Thank you for stopping by our website. My great passion is that as a church family we should know Jesus and make him known.

The apostle Paul writes: We proclaim Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.  For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me. (Colossians 1:28-29)  I love these verses. They capture what I long for us to do at St Stephen’s:

  • We proclaim Christ: It is in Jesus, as we see him revealed in the Bible, that we have hope for the future, know forgiveness today and are set free to see the glory of God.
  • We proclaim Christ to everyone: Three times Paul speaks of everyone. This includes people of all ages and backgrounds. We want all people to come to know Jesus, even if church feels like an alien place to them. We all need to grow in Christian maturity, even if we have been going to Church for years.
  • We proclaim Christ with Jesus’ energy. We do everything reliant on the power of God’s Spirit through prayer.

Wherever you find yourself in life, we would love to meet you, to welcome you and to help you grow in your knowledge of Christ. We meet on a Sunday at 11am.

In the Autumn we will be launching mid-week Bible study groups and also a Christianity Explored course for people wanting to rethink the Christian Faith. Hope to connect with you soon,

Richard

St. Stephen’s Has a New Vicar!

Richard Dryer PhotoAfter months of praying and undergoing a long recruitment process, we are pleased to announce the formal appointment of the Rev’d Richard Dryer as the new vicar of St. Stephens.
Richard was ordained in 2014 having trained at Wycliffe in Oxford. He served his curacy in Wimbledon and is currently Associate vicar at St. James’ Sussex Gardens in charge of pioneer ministry to the Paddington Basin. Before ordination, Richard spent many years in the finance sector.
He and his wife, Charlotte, have two children.
Rev’d Richard Dryer will be installed as the new incumbent of St Stephens on Sunday 2nd June 2019. The time is yet to be confirmed, but we would love for the whole church family and community to join us for this momentous occasion.
As we prepare for Easter and to receive Rev’d Richard and his family, let us continue to pray for God’s blessing and wisdom as we step into this new season.

Car Wash!

19.05.18 lr-1

On Saturday, 19th May – while the rest of the world was watching the Royal Wedding – a group of 10 young people, ably assisted by some of their parents, undertook a fund-raising car wash outside the front of the church.

In brilliant spring sunshine, and with military efficiency, they worked extremely hard to polish and preen, inside and out, a stream of cars for 5 hours.

While their cars were washed, the owners consumed home-made cakes, tea, coffee etc, before being re-introduced to their cars, now in near showroom condition – and in some cases that was quite a challenge!

All customers went away pleased and impressed, and donated generously . Thanks to all who made donations and to those who worked so hard.

The young people are raising funds towards the cost of going on summer camps and in total hope to raise £1500. So all donations are welcome, and watch this space to hear about future fund-raising events.

We continue to give thanks and praise for the great progress being made with the structural repairs being undertaken within the St. Stephen’s buildings.

From the outside of the building it is hard to imagine much is being done. However, once inside it is evident that hard work has been undertaken from the very depths of the building to the highest of heights.

Please pray for our repairs and for all those involved.

If anyone would like to know more about the structural repairs and maybe see first hand the work that is being done do please get in touch.
