Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, Hebrews 10:24

We meet at 10:30am and 6.30pm on a Sunday. Our services are fairly informal.

At our Sunday morning service, we have groups for children up to the age of 14 which meet during part of the service and we have an all age service occasionally. The service tends to finish by 11:45am.

Our evening service is very informal. We meet in the church building, sat around tables, ‘cafe’ style. We praise God in a song or a Psalm, pray, read the scriptures and listen to a sermon (repeated from the morning service). After the formal part of our service has closed we have Q&A on the sermon passage. The service lasts around 45 minutes.

Our music is a blend of contemporary and traditional and is led by a small band. Our services have a simple liturgical structure and are shaped by the seasons and festivals of the Christian year. We set a high value on the preaching of the Scriptures as we believe that God’s word is powerful to change lives.

We are meeting both physically in the church and also on-line on Zoom for those who are unwell or struggle to leave the house.

Sometimes we enjoy a church family lunch together after the service

We also have a monthly prayer meeting at 8pm on the first Wednesday evening in the month. At this meeting we pray for the life of the church, our area and the world. We view prayer as the backbone of everything which we do. We also publish a monthly prayer diary which enables us to pray for one aspect of church life everyday. It can be accessed via the PrayerMate App here.

Our hope and prayer is that each person attending our services at St. Stephen’s, at whatever point they are on their journey of faith, will encounter the presence of the living God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
