Richard writes:
Welcome to St Stephen’s Westbourne Park. Thank you for stopping by our website. My great passion is that as a church family we should love Christ, love His church and love His world.
Loving Christ means that we are:
Christ–focused: because we believe that we see the glory of God in Him and find God’s strength through prayer in His name.
Word-focused: because we believe that we know Jesus and grow in our love of him as the Holy Spirit works in our hearts through the scriptures
Cross-focused: because we believe that it is through the cross that we receive forgiveness of sins and see the supreme glory of Christ
Loving His Church means that we are:
Service-focused: because we believe that our faith grows in community and not purely individually and so we long to see each other grow in maturity in the faith.
Loving His World means that we are:
Mission-focused: because we believe that the best way we can love those around us is to spread the hope of the gospel, in our parish, our city and beyond.
The apostle Paul writes: We proclaim Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me. (Colossians 1:28-29) I love these verses. They capture what I long for us to do at St Stephen’s: we proclaim Christ; we proclaim Christ to everyone; we proclaim Christ with Jesus’ energy, reliant on the power of God’s Spirit through prayer.
Wherever you find yourself in life, we would love to meet you, to welcome you and to help you grow in your knowledge of Christ. We meet on a Sunday at 10:30am and 6.30pm.
